What This Credit Is For
This guide applies to Amex hotel credits labeled FHR, Fine Hotels + Resorts, THC, or The Hotel Collection.
Booking Steps
- Go through Amex Travel while signed into the account that has the card.
- Filter for Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection.
- For THC, confirm the stay meets the minimum night requirement shown at checkout.
- Choose a prepaid or Pay Now rate when the benefit requires prepaid booking.
- Pay with the eligible Amex card, then save both the Amex Travel confirmation and final hotel folio.
Timing
- The credit is tied to the benefit window, so do not wait until the final days.
- The charge can post before the stay, but adjustments can still happen later.
- Check both the original charge and any hotel-side incidental charges separately.
Watch Outs
These credits are not the same as generic travel portal credits. Treat cancellation or rollover tricks as risky data points, not a dependable product workflow.
Avoid
- Booking a non-FHR/THC hotel and expecting the credit
- Using points or a third-party agency instead of the required Amex Travel flow
- Missing the THC minimum-stay rule
- Relying on refund behavior to preserve a credit
