Best Repeatable Path
The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant dining credit is a monthly Amex statement credit. The cleanest community playbook is to run it through DoorDash's gift-card marketplace and buy an Amazon eGift card when Amazon is available.
This is a data-point-driven path, not an issuer-published redemption method. Test with a small purchase after any DoorDash or Amex coding change.
Setup
- Add the Brilliant card directly as a DoorDash payment method.
- Do not pay with DoorDash gift card balance, Chase DoorDash credits, Apple Pay, or a wallet token if you are trying to preserve merchant coding.
- Open DoorDash gift cards. Amazon may appear inside a Zift multi-brand card rather than as a plain Amazon tile.
- If Amazon is missing, check alternate Zift card designs and try app vs. desktop before assuming it is gone.
Monthly Runbook
- Buy roughly $25 of Amazon-compatible eGift card value through DoorDash.
- If DoorDash is running a discount, size the cart so the Brilliant card charge is near $25 rather than the face value.
- Save the DoorDash receipt and the eGift delivery email until the Amex credit posts.
- Redeem the Amazon code into your own Amazon account immediately so the code is not sitting in email.
- Mark the benefit complete in Perks Reminder after the Amex credit posts, not when DoorDash sends the gift card.
What to Watch
- DoorDash/Zift inventory changes. Amazon can move behind specific card designs or disappear temporarily.
- DoorDash sometimes makes gift-card promos DashPass-member-only.
- Browser, app, language, and account history can affect whether checkout succeeds.
- Amex can change merchant qualification or claw back abusive gift-card patterns.
- Overseas dining can work when the merchant processes as a restaurant, but local card acceptance is inconsistent; DoorDash gift cards are usually less operationally messy.
Posting Expectations
Community data points commonly show the Brilliant dining credit posting a few days after a qualifying DoorDash or restaurant charge, but Amex terms can allow longer. Do not wait until the final day of the month if you need time to retry.
Avoid
- Buying a large gift-card balance before confirming current coding
- Paying with DoorDash gift-card balance or app credits
- Letting Amazon codes sit unredeemed
- Assuming one successful month guarantees future months
